Can I wear a hat after a hair transplant?
Not for the first several days, and when you do, it needs to be loose enough not to touch the grafts.
For roughly the first five to seven days, anything resting on the recipient area risks dislodging grafts that are not yet anchored. That includes caps, beanies and headphones.
After that, a loose-fitting hat that sits above the grafted area is generally acceptable, and many people use one for sun protection — the healing scalp should stay out of strong UV for several weeks. Avoid anything with a tight band, and avoid pulling a hat on and off in a way that drags across the recipient sites.
Your surgeon should give you specific timings based on where the grafts were placed, because a hairline case and a crown case are not the same problem.
