How to compare clinics
It is the most useful question you can ask a hair transplant clinic, and the one you are least likely to get a straight answer to. Ask it of us, and ask it of everyone else.
Almost every clinic performs FUE
The pattern worth watching for is volume: a clinic running many simultaneous cases, where the consultation is brief, the plan is generic, and nobody is accountable for the result twelve months later.
ISHRS states the position without ambiguity — diagnostic evaluation, surgical planning, hairline design, donor harvesting and recipient-site creation are a physician’s responsibility. Its material describes patients being misled when advertised credentials belong to someone who does not perform the surgery, and warns that unlicensed operators may carry no malpractice cover at all.
This is not a geographic problem. It is a volume problem, and it exists anywhere demand outruns the supply of trained surgeons.

Six questions, any clinic
Who directs my care?
The name and licence of the physician who examines you, designs the plan and is accountable for the outcome.
How many patients that day?
A surgeon overseeing several simultaneous cases is delegating.
What is my donor density?
A measured number from an examination, not an estimate from a photo.
What happens at month eight?
If growth disappoints, who assesses it, where, and at whose cost?
What is being held in reserve?
How much donor supply is deliberately left for future loss.
Why is this the right time?
If nobody asked whether you should wait, nobody assessed stability.
Dr Jawdat Abboud, MD
Consultations and procedures here are under the direction of Dr Jawdat Abboud, MD — Doctor of Medicine, University of Damascus; residency at Cook County / John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in Chicago; board certified in internal medicine; more than twenty years in medical practice.
We state his certification precisely because precision is the point of this page. He is board certified in internal medicine — not by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and not in dermatology or plastic surgery. Any clinic that blurs the specific board it is certified by is doing the thing this page is about.
