Hair transplant for Hinsdale

People come to us from Hinsdale for the ordinary reason: it is close, and hair restoration is a year-long relationship rather than a single appointment.

A short run up Ogden Avenue. Many Hinsdale patients come to us after a referral from a physician in the Salt Creek corridor.

Parking

Parking is on site. A procedure day runs most of a working day, so arriving without circling for a space matters more here than at an ordinary appointment.

Route 83 does the whole job. It runs north-south through the western suburbs and passes within a block of the practice at 22nd Street, so there is no expressway merge and no toll on this trip at all. It is the route we most often describe over the phone, because it is the one that is hardest to get wrong.

DuPage County is where the practice sits, and the majority of the people we see live inside it. That has a practical consequence worth stating plainly: your follow-up appointments at three, eight and twelve months are a local errand rather than a planned trip, which is the single biggest reason people finish a treatment plan instead of abandoning it halfway.

Why treat this locally

The follow-up is the point.

Ask any clinic what happens if the result is thin at month eight. From Hinsdale the answer can be an appointment. That is the entire practical case for treating this near where you live, and it is a stronger one than any claim about technique.

At this distance the follow-up schedule stops being a logistical question at all. Grafts shed at two to four weeks, regrowth starts somewhere around months three to six, and the result is judged at twelve to eighteen months — and every one of those checkpoints is a short drive rather than a day out.

What we do

Two procedures, for Hinsdale patients as for everyone else.

The part most clinics skip

Your donor area is finite.

There is a ceiling on this and it is worth knowing before anyone quotes you a graft count. Published ISHRS guidance describes a safe lifetime donor supply of roughly four to eight thousand follicular units, varying widely between individuals. Spending it early is the one mistake in hair restoration that cannot be corrected later.

Not everyone who asks should be operated on this year. Grafts placed into a pattern that is still actively receding leave transplanted hair in front of a new gap. When loss is moving, medical therapy comes first — sometimes for a year — and that is the difference between one procedure and three.

Most people can, but we would rather you did not assume it. The scalp is anaesthetised and the day is long. For a 8-minute drive like this one, arranging a lift is a small inconvenience that removes a real variable.

That is your decision, and there are good surgeons everywhere. What 3 miles buys is the part that happens after the procedure: if growth disappoints at month eight, someone examines your scalp under magnification and tells you why, in person.

Yes. We perform follicular unit extraction, and platelet-rich plasma therapy to support the hair you still have. We do not perform strip harvesting, and we are not a menu of competing technique names.
