Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using assistive technology. Here is where we stand and how to tell us if something is not working.

This statement describes a partial conformance claim, and deliberately so. It reflects an audit completed on 16 August 2026 covering the criteria listed above. It does not claim full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, because screen-reader testing and third-party embedded content remain outside what we have verified.

Our target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the standard generally referenced for ADA compliance in the United States.

What has been built in

Semantic HTML structure with a single H1 per page and a logical heading order. Skip-to-content link on every page. Visible keyboard focus indicators throughout. Text alternatives on informative images, with decorative graphics marked so screen readers skip them. Interactive controls operable by keyboard, including the before-and-after comparison sliders, which accept arrow-key input. Accordions and tabs expose their state with ARIA attributes. All motion, including scroll animations and looping graphics, is disabled automatically when a visitor has prefers-reduced-motion enabled at the operating-system level. Body text and interface colours are chosen for contrast against the dark background.

What we have tested, and how

This site was audited against WCAG 2.1 Level AA on 16 August 2026. The audit covered 213 pages — every page in our sitemap, including all Spanish and Arabic pages, which are also checked for right-to-left layout. It combined an automated check of every page with manual checks in a browser on representative pages: colour contrast measured against the actual rendered background, keyboard navigation using real key presses, and the site viewed at 200 per cent text size.

At the close of that audit the site had no outstanding Level A or Level AA failures against the criteria tested.

Known limitations

We have not tested with screen readers. Automated tools and measured contrast cannot tell you whether a page actually makes sense when it is read aloud. Until we have run a screen-reader pass with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver, we are not claiming that experience is good — only that the underlying structure is correct.

Embedded third-party content is not covered. The review widget and the chat widget on this site are supplied by other companies and insert their own code, which we do not control and have not audited.

Two controls are smaller than the 44-pixel target size some guidance recommends: the small arrow links and the drag handle on the before-and-after comparison. Target size is a Level AAA criterion rather than Level AA, and both can be operated by keyboard, but we intend to enlarge them.

If any of this matters to you, please contact us and we will get you the information another way — that offer is not a formality.

Telling us about a problem

If you cannot access something on this site, or you use assistive technology and hit a barrier, please tell us and we will fix it and help you get the information another way. Email info@oakbrookhair.com or telephone 630-974-1400.

Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using if you know them.
